When It’s Springtime In Alaska It’s 40 Below

“i mushed frompoint barrow through blizzard of snow.
Been out prospectin’ for two years or so.
Pulled into fairbanks, the city was a-boom.
So i took a little stroll to the red dog sea-loon.
As i walked in the door, the music was clear.
The purtiest voice i had heard in two years.
The song she was singin’ made a man’s blood run cold.
When it’s springtime in alaska, it’s forty below.
(when it’s springtime in alaska it’s forty below.)
It was redhead lil who was singin’ so sweet.
I reached down and took the snow packs off my feet.
I reached for the gal who was singin’ the tune.
We did the eskeemo hop all around the sea-loon.
With a caribou crawl and a grizzly bear hug.
We did our dance on a kodiak rug.
The song she kept singin’ made a man’s blood run cold.
When it’s springtime in alaska it’s forty below.
I was as innocent as i could be.
    I didn’t know lil was big ed’s wife-to-be.
He took out his knife and he gave it a throw.
When it’s springtime in alaska i’ll be six feet below.
(when it’s springtime in alaska he’ll be six feet below.

Australia’s carbon pricing mechanism has been vilified by the Federal Opposition and certain members of the business community, but it is a key part of Australia’s response to climate change. So one year on, where does it stand?

    • uknowispeaksense says:

vilified by the Federal Opposition…, but how long until phony Tony does another backflip and calls for a carbon tax, just as he did in 2009? I’m betting that Labor wins, we move to an ETS and in two years phony Tony complains that a simple tax would be better.

  3. john byatt says:

On balance, there are strong arguments for committing to an early move to a market-based emissions trading scheme as the core climate change policy. The arguments against are most likely manageable. Yet such a move will force Prime Minister Rudd to create a narrative that explains how he got it wrong the first time, connects with international action now taking place in countries such as China and the US and rekindles the climate change flame of Kevin 07.

    • Watching the Deniers says:

Good article, there are many good reasons to accelerate the move. You’ve signaled the challenges though.

Just heard Melbourne had the wamest July 2 maximum temperature on record.
I wonder how this (again) unusual bit of information is reported in the various media outlets.

  8. The Australian’s War on Science continues unabated: Maurice Newman informs us that we have nothing to worry about because “climategate”, and the IPCC is just a front group for Greenpeace:

How the climate retard party do science.

pick three calendar years, 1990…. 1998….2010

draw a straight line line between each and then declare that the planet is cooling.

    can people be this stupid?

Was over at WUWT and linked to 1000+ papers skeptical of AGW,

first ones i checked out were heaps of papers referring to paleoclimate CO2 following temperature rise,

what sort of retard believes that such papers are skeptical of AGW ?

  13. john byatt says:

Arctic ice volume for June was above 2012, 2011 and 2010.

the increase is due to area though rather than average thickness, which is below all other years but identical with June 2012 at 1.71M
