I doubt Galileo would feel the need. Newton might, though. He went through a very odd phase of paranoia about the scientific establishment and tucked himself away in a garret (read “basement” in the present) to get into some pretty weird shit. He’d be a natural for WUWT and dog-astrology journals.
I think would experience some involuntary conspiracist ideation upon learning of the people in jail for sharing the wrong opinion about WW2 🙂
