Cross Post from New Anthropocene: How the “left” can avoid own goals: vigorous debate is a necessity, but physical attacks on billionaires and destroying the work of scientists should be condemned

See my post on why I think Greenpeace got it wrong and why throwing a pie at Murdoch may feel good, is counter productive.

I’ll be posting all my work on the web here, including links to Generation Adaptation.

Hi Mike yes agree, was funny at abc unleashed though with all the usual AGW deniers there praising the work of the CSIRO science .
Greenpeace claim that GM is unsafe and then destroy the very work into researching that and an unbiased body to boot

The most recent and regrettable events at Penn State, where most of the athletic administration and coaching staff looked the other way, forgot or didn’t understand what has been going on in the football program and the charity to help young boys, brings to mind the other problem that Penn State had with their moral compass some two years ago. At that time, evidence surfaced that one Prof. Mann had been manipulating data to prove the case for global warming, but moreover had encouraged his peers to block all comments by those who might disagree with the dogma he had embraced, thereby subverting the peer-review process. There was substantial written evidence to support this observation. Nonetheless, the University summoned its greatest moral and philosophical minds to absolve Professor Mann of any wrong-doing, on two occasions, as I recall. Despite the fact that he had given the world a clear trail of evidence that indicated that he was at least an aspirant to the throne of Trofim Lysenko, he is held in great esteem by the University, that has now cleared him…..twice. We can hardly wait for the University to summon their greatest minds to once agin assemble for the purposes of acquitting the football coaching staff and all of the administrators who forgot to call the police when defiling young boys came into vogue at the University 10 or 12 years ago. The global warming movement has, if nothing else, given the rest of the world some measure of insight into where we should all be looking for the next shoe to drop. Could you please list all of the professors that were in close correspondence with Prof. Mann? After all, where integrity and morals are not only lax, but afforded a double victory lap, it appears to be only a matter of time until the real fun begins.
I’m not a billionaire, but I am an old man who has come to recognize that trends tend to repeat themselves.
